When Nelson Sensei began her study of Aikido at Wasachi
Aikikai the style studied was Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido, founded by Koichi
Tohei Sensei. The Ki Society was also founded by Kochi Tohei Sensei to
promote ki development through techniques such as kiastu. Students received
belt rank and ki development rank separately. Many of the ki development
techniques taught at Ahsa Aikido come from Nelson Sensei's early training.
When Kobayashi Sensei founded Seidokan, Wasachi Aikido followed with this
affiliation. Nelson Sensei became Wasachi Aikido's first black belt and
the second Seidokan black belt in the state of Utah. |
